BALANCED NUTRITION
I stepped on a scale in 2005 and was shocked. At 198 pounds, I was the heaviest I had ever been. I decided right then and there that I had to make a change. I learned that eating a balanced diet was more important than eliminating any particular food group. More importantly I determined how many calories my body needed to maintain my weight (Basal Metabolic Rate) and simply created a caloric deficit by eating less calories. REGULAR EXERCISE
When I began my weight loss journey I couldn't even jog one mile without walking, but I didn't let that get me down. I saw my poor physical condition as a challenge. I began walking five to six days a week and slowly built up my stamina. Within two months I was jogging and had increased my distances dramatically. The result? I began losing an additional 1.5 pounds per week. That's a total of 3 pounds per week!
